AirStrip and Visum settle their patent infringement suit. Terms were not disclosed, but AirStrip has agreed to drop the case so long as mVisum does not pursue technologies that infringe on AirStrip’s patent/.

AirStrip was awarded a patent in August 2012 for technology that mobilizes real-time and near real time physiological data to smartphones and tablets. By October of the same year, the company had filed its first patent infringement suit. mVisum was the defendant in the case.

MVisum sells a communications platform that pushes real-time alerts, messages, and clinical information to clinicians in the hospital. AirStrip offers a similar solution. Both companies promote HIPAA-compliant mobile integration as a cornerstone of their offering. The portfolios of the companies overlap in offering real-time transmission of cardiac and OB-GYN monitor waveforms.
