Just four months after releasing the company’s long-awaited flagship activity tracker, Basis raises $11.5 million in a Series B round that was led by Mayfield Fund and included contributions from the startup’s existing investors, DCM and Norwest Venture Partners. The added capital brings its total investment to just over $20 million.

In addition, Basis has announced the addition of American physician and health guru Deepak Chopra and health tech investor Esther Dyson to its advisory board.

In the year prior to its release, pre-order sales of Basis grew well into the five-digit range, which led the company to close its online store. The capital investment will be used to address backlog issues by helping accelerate production and overhaul distribution.
