Blueprint Health Unveils Sixth Class


Manhattan, NY-based Blueprint Health announces its sixth class of digital health startups this week. The new class is made up of 10 companies, selected from an application pool of more than 300. The startups three percent acceptance rate is lower than any college tracked by US News and World Report, where Harvard is listed as having a six percent acceptance rate.

For being accepted, the startups receive $20,000 in seed capital, $50,000 in free goods and services, plus three months of mentorship, networking opportunities, and a culminating demo day to a room full of VCs. In exchange, each startup will forgo six percent equity to Blueprint.

Introducing Blueprint Health’s six class:

AdhereTech – AdhereTech makes a connected pill bottle that uses an embedded scale to monitor the weight of its contents so that it knows when a patient has taken their meds. If a dose is missed, the bottle glows, buzzes, and uses a small antenna to transmit a SMS reminder to the patient.

Allazo Health – Allazo Health was founded by Clifford Jones, who prior to launching the startup led the development of CVS’s award-winning medication adherence app. Now, Jones is taking the lessons he learned with CVS and creating a predictive analytics platform that identifies likely non-compliant patients and delivers individualized interventions.

daisyBill – daisyBill is a supplementary billing application designed to automate workers compensation payments in California. The company says that by using its platform, practices can reduce the time it takes to process a claim by between 14 and 44 percent.

EMBI – EMBI develops business intelligence solutions for emergency departments. The company is not a startup, and has been doing business for 15 years. The company counts St. Joseph’s Healthcare System (NJ), and Stony Brook University Hospital (NY) as customers.

EnHatch – enHatch makes software for sales and marketing forces working in the medical device industry. The company’s app helps businesses make simple, yet comprehensive demo videos and training videos for doctors using a new tool or device for the first time.

GeriJoy – GeriJoy is building virtual pets that will help dementia patients through their day.  The digital pets are used as an avatar for real-life personal assistants who can engage with geriatric patients and help them through issues.

Health Recovery Solutions – Health Recovery Solutions helps hospitals reduce re-admissions with an automated outreach platform that checks in on patients and monitors their post-acute recovery.

Medikly – Founded in 2009, Medikly is building a healthcare-focused platform designed to help companies launch, execute, modify, and quantify marketing campaigns.

Symbiosis Health – Symbiosis is building a healthcare purchasing platform that gives patients without insurance, or on high-deductible policies, a way of comparing prices across various locations, and then booking appointments. The site claims to be able to secure lower prices because patients are required to pay for services upfront.
