Long-term care health IT startup COMS Interactive — short for Clinical Outcomes Management System — is developing a platform called DaylightIQ to help clinicians working in assisted living facilities measure long-term patient condition changes. It will monitor key clinical indicators throughout the patient’s stay, alerting clinicians if the patient’s condition deteriorates to the point that additional interventions become necessary.

COMS touts impressive results from the platform. Customers claim a 50 percent reduction in return-to-hospital rates and a 60 percent reduction in premature mortality after installing the DaylightIQ system.

COMS has sold a minority equity share of the company, raising $21 million from Summit Partners to further enhance its product. Summit Managing Director Mark deLaar will join the company’s board.
