Cloud-based content sharing vendor Box is co-sponsoring an mHealth app contest with Dignity Health, and VC firm Social + Capital Partnership. The contest was announced at the Health 2.0 conference this week. The goal of the challenge is to create a collaborative app where care teams can connect with patients to continue reinforcing patient education in the post-acute environment.

Developers are asked to create apps that re-imagine the way patient education is distributed, and consumed. Developers will create their apps within Box’s HIPAA compliant, content sharing platform. Dignity Health has committed to providing the clinical content for the prototypes, and has suggested it may pilot the winning app at one of its facilities. Social + Capital Partnership will contribute a $100,000 convertible note, one month of free office space, and mentorship.

Judges include: Aneesh Chopra, former U.S. chief technology officer, Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box, and Ted Maidenberg, general partner at the Social+Capital Partnership. Submissions are due by January 10.
