Diversinet Issued Two More Patents Related to Mobile Security

Diversinet

Mobile health platform vendor Diversinet announces it has been issued two patents. The first, "Method and System for Authenticating a User of a Mobile Device," is a method of performing multi-factor authentication. The use case listed in the release is patients accessing PHI over mobile devices.

The second, "Method and System for Delivering a Command to a Mobile Device", is a Canadian patent for remote wiping of devices or sending commands upon certain actions, such as opening up an app. The release makes it sound like this patent is relevant for BYOD policies, and sending a command to a phone might help with that if the command helps to verify a user.

This brings the total number of patents for Diversinet to 22. Diversinet initially built the mCare platform for the US Army and has expanded its mobile health security position using partnerships to vendors like AirStrip. I’m waiting to see it enforce some of these patents.
