Fitbit Unveils New Wrist-Worn Activity Tracker

Competition is heating up at this year’s CES tradeshow. Yesterday Withings unveiled its first generation clip-on style activity tracker. Today, Fitbit responds by unveiling a new wrist-worn activity tracker dubbed the Fitbit Flex that matches Withings blow-for-blow in metrics measured: steps, distance, calories, and sleep patterns.

Withings, however, adds a heart rate monitor to the package, a longer battery life, and packs it all into a smaller device. One key piece of missing information is how Withings will price its model. Fitbit has already announced a $99.95 starting price.

Both devices will ship in the spring of 2013.
