Google Glass Unveils App Guidelines

Google has unveiled the Google Glass developer guidelines, which reveal what users can expect from the most-hyped technological device to hit markets in years.

Google Glass will not be capable of running real-time augmented reality apps. Augmented reality is a concept in which relevant data is layered over reality based on what the user is looking at. For example, history buffs could run a historical information augmented reality app that would point out any historically significant landmarks as they walk through a city. Many expected Google Glass would be the first form factor to bring this functionality to the mainstream.

Instead of being a form factor that will interact with reality, Google Glass appears to be focused on minimizing some of the more invasive ways humans interact with their devices by allowing eye movements and voice command to control the bulk of the user experience.

Developers are largely underwhelmed by the very limited API.
