Menlo Park, Calif.-based GuideSpark raises a $5 million first round led by Storm Ventures, with additional funds contributed by IDG Ventures. The company has developed a YouTube inspired benefits manager platform designed to educate employees on important health benefits within the context of a three-minute online video.

“The web is dramatically changing how users get, find, and consume information — from YouTube videos, blogs and Twitter feeds to social networks and online applications. These recent information trends are becoming an everyday experience, and that experience is carrying over to the corporate world where employees are beginning to expect the same types of information experiences to engage and educate them.” – GuideSpark website.

The company is marketing its series of three-minute videos to the HR department of corporations looking to simplify benefits training. GuideSpark already counts Adobe, 7-Eleven, LeapFrog, SurveyMonkey, and the City of San Antonio as customers. The new financing will help them grow its client base, as well as enhance support for its existing customers.
