Happtique Announces Final mHealth App Certification Standards

3-4-2013 11-09-16 PM

mHealth company Happtique has been working to establish a clinically vetted, technically sound formulary of mHealth apps for physicians to ‘prescribe’ to patients for various health and wellness initiatives. The formulary aims to help healthcare providers easily identify medical, health, and fitness apps that deliver credible content, contain safeguards for user data, and function as described.

In pursuit of that goal, the company has announced the final app certification standards that mHealth app developers will need to adhere to in order to be considered for inclusion in Happtique’s app formulary.

The standards are broken down into four categories: Operability, Privacy, Security, and Content. Each of these areas consist of multiple standards and performance requirements.

Testing will be completed by a number of internationally recognized third-party specialists. Intertek, a leader in the field of technical testing and auditing, will conduct testing to certify operability, security and privacy. Content will be evaluated by the Association of American Medical Colleges.
