Healthbox Unveils its New Chicago Class, Focusing on B2B Startups

Healthbox announces the next class of startups it will welcome to its Chicago-based accelerator program this winter. Formal introductions will commence tonight during an opening reception where the selected companies will get to introduce themselves and their business concepts to business professionals, healthcare executives, and healthbox mentors.

Following the introduction sessions, the seven selected startups will begin a four-month program focused on refining their business model and products portfolio, as well as finding pilot sites, early customers, and additional funding sources. As part of the program, startups will be provided an initial $50,000 in seed funding. In exchange for participation and funding, Healthbox retains a seven percent equity steak in the startup. With campuses running in Boston, Chicago, Jacksonville, Nashville, and London, Healthbox now has equity in a total of 55 companies.

The Chicago program was selected with a focus on B2B startups that were going to be able to help resolve pain points physicians and health systems were experiencing due to health IT regulatory requirements.

Ceuticare – Ceuticare offers a medication management service that places pharmacists on-site at physician’s offices to help evaluate and manage chronically ill patients.  The pharmacist monitors patients medication adherence, meets with them frequently, and discusses medication needs with the physician and the patient. The result is a reduction in the total cost of care.

PatientConnector – Patient Connector is a software development firm that is targeting hospitals and practices as consumers. They are marketing custom, patient-facing portals and apps designed to target population health goals, as well as improve patient satisfaction, and reducing the overall cost of care by

Learn It Live – Learn It Live is building an educational platform that will connect patients to live, or pre-recorded classes covering a variety of different topics, from weight loss, to stress reduction or disease management.

Ludi – Ludi helps hospitals manage physician contracts by establishing the contracts and managing day-to-day performance review and payment.

Opternative – Billed as the worlds first online eye exam, Opternative is working to launch a service that would allow consumers to receive glasses and contact lens prescriptions from the comfort of heir own home. 

Purple Binder – Purple Binder helps streamline care coordination by helping patients connect with local community health resources.

Quietyme – Quietyme assists hospitals improve the sleep experience for their patients leading to improved quiet-at-night scores, which has a strong influence on the overall HCAHPS scores, according to Press Ganey.
