Innovate Health Tech NYC, a competition created by the New York Economic Development Corporation, announces that Kinsa Health is the grand prize winner of their innovation challenge. Kinsa is an early stage NYC startup working to develop a smartphone connected thermometer.

The thermometer allows users to store readings on a connected app. Kinsa then collects the readings and reported symptoms from across its user base and displays the results on a real time map of illness at the community level. Kinsa’s first place prize is $25,000.

Oculogica, a low cost mobile diagnostic tool that measures subtle eye movements to diagnose concussions, took the $15,000 second-place prize. AdhereTech, makers of a wireless pill bottle that measure the exact number of pills in a bottle and use the information to remind patients to take their medications, took third place and a $10,000 prize.
