iPads in a Children’s Hospital: Education, Distraction, and Preparation

St. Louis Children’s Hospital is using the iPad to connect to its young patients during their treatments.

Children scheduled for surgery are shown iPad pictures of doctors in scrubs to ease their fears. Kids in pain or tethered to an IV are allowed to play iPad games. Clinicians use to teach children about their diseases.

The hospital has two iPads, but hopes to get 15 so that each child life specialist can use one with their patients.
