Lyfechannel Wins HHS Mobile App Challenge

The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, an office within HHS, announces the winner of its mobile health app contest. Developers were challenged to find creative ways of leveraging evidence-based health and wellness data published on the HHS-run website Healthfinder.gov in a mobile and strategically actionable format.

The winner of the contest and recipient of a $50,000 prize is myFamily by Lyfechannel. It helps families take tangible steps to improve health by promoting preventative care services, providing customized user-specific disease management tips, allowing users to create personal health alerts, and enabling users to track recommended preventative exams and vaccinations.

The contest received 26 submissions, of which three moved on the final phase of the competition after being judged on usability, innovation, and accuracy. San Carlos, Calif-based Lyfechannel was ultimately selected as the top entry.
