mHealth Study Reveals Pharmaceutical Companies Lagging on Mobile Health Initiatives

11-7-2012 10-17-41 PM

A recent Cutting Edge Information study reveals that pharmaceutical companies have been slower than most in developing meaningful mobile health initiatives. Furthermore, the study revealed that of those that are actively pursuing a mobile health strategy, 88 percent are marketing department initiatives, while only 63 percent include any clinical or medical affairs staff and fewer than 50 percent include staff from IT.

The study highlights that while health networks and payers are beginning to explore mHealth techniques to improve outcomes and reduce readmissions, the pharmaceutical industry has engaged the growing sector primarily as a marketing opportunity.
