New Committee to Further Understanding of mHealth Privacy and Security Issues

mHealth

mHealth Alliance and Thomson Reuters Foundation announce a collaborative partnership aimed at researching privacy and security issues, and publishing policy recommendations, to address persistent security concerns over expanded mHealth strategies.

A recent World Health Organization study concluded that security and privacy concerns were among the top barriers to expanded mHealth adoption.

The focus of the analysis will be conducted by reviewing ongoing mHealth projects in: Bangladesh, Chile, India, Nigeria, Peru, Tanzania, and Uganda. Over the course of a year, privacy and security policies across the projects will be compared and analyzed for effectiveness and cost of implementation.

Merck and Baker & McKenzie will provide local legal experts to assist with analyzing privacy policy in context to local legal requirements.

The study intends to conclude with a list of best practices and actionable items gleaned from the various projects that can be implemented to reduce security threats.
