The deadline to submit a proposal to participate in the Stanford Medicine X | Withings Precision Research Challenge is Saturday, October 15. The challenge is a joint initiative designed to spark scholarly research activity on chronic diseases that can be managed using Withings devices. The aim is to match people with proposals with those who have similar interests, to form collaboration teams.

Pilar Garcia Lorenzo is convicted of money laundering and conspiracy to commit health care fraud. The owner of Gold Care Home Health Services, Inc. was found guilty of submitting millions of dollars in false and fraudulent claims to Medicare.

The claims were for home health services that had never been provided and had not been legitimately prescribed by a physician, authorities contended at trial. As a result of those false and fraudulent claims, Medicare reimbursed Gold Care approximately $2.5 million, the release states. Her sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2017.
