Omada Health raises $4.7 million in Series A funding led by US Venture Partners, the Vertical Group, Founder Collective, NEA, TriplePoint Captial, Kapor Capital, and a handful of angel investors.

The startup has been working since its 2011 graduation from the Rock Health accelerator program to deliver an online diabetes prevention program for the general public. After a year of testing, the platform, dubbed Prevent, was launched in December of last year. Prevent delivers a 16-week online weight loss program designed specifically to support those with pre-diabetes.

Pre-diabetes and diabetes account for more than $200 billion a year in healthcare costs and an estimated one in three Americans has pre-diabetes, so the company has an unfortunately large target market to tackle.

The new funding will allow the Omada Health to support the expansion of its platform and begin targeting related diseases.
