Montreal-based OMsignal announces the closing of a $1 million seed funding round led by Real Ventures, Golden Venture Partners, and TechStars CEO David Cohen. Looking to introduce the next big thing in activity tracking, OMsignal is developing bio-sensor enabled clothing that will continuously monitor ECG data, breathing, physical activity, and calories burned.

The clothing is not yet available for purchase, but 100 prototype units have been distributed to developers working with the OMsignal to build an ecosystem of supplementary apps and connected devices prior to the official public launch of the clothing.

When smart apparel does hit markets, experts anticipate a price tag in the neighborhood of $100 per unit. While expensive, the clothing is reportedly lightweight, unobtrusive, and machine washable.
