Syapse Raises $3 Million in Series A Funding

Syapse, a cloud-based application vendor that delivers genome sequencing to laboratories and clinics to help diagnose and treat patients, raises $3 million in series A funding.

Founded at Stanford University in 2008, Syapse has built a genome library of over 3,000 genomes which includes more than 100 billion clinical data points, making it one of the largest repositories of human genome and clinical data in existence.

Funding was led by the Social+Capital Partnership, and with the investment  Social+Capital founder Chamath Palihapitiya will joining the startup’s board of directors.

The long term goal of Syapse is to develop a cloud-based application which delivers biological, evidence-based decision support at the point of care.
