Withings Announces Activity Tracker, Surpasses Fitbit as Most Comprehensive Product Suite

Withings unveils two new products, expanding its growing suite of connected devices. First, an activity monitor very similar in design to Fitbit. This will be Withings’ first attempt at an activity tracker. The company will unveil the new device at CES and posted images on their website today.

The tracker looks similar to Fitbit in that it is a clip-on style rather than a wrist-worn monitor. The tracker covers the basics in measuring steps taken,  stairs climbed, distance covered, and calories burned. Add to this a metric to measure the duration and quality of sleep and a first-ever touch activated pulse monitor. Prices have not been announced, so look for that information from the CES unveil on Wednesday.

Second is a re-engineering of the Withings wireless scale. Dubbed the Smart Body Analyzer, the new scale takes the traditional weight and body fat measurements and adds heart rate and environmental air quality measurements.

By adding an activity tracker, Withings now offers the most robust product portfolio among all of the major players in the activity tracker marketplace: Fitbit, Nike, and Jawbone.
